The Experience Profile Milestone Badge recognizes your ability to demonstrate professional competence through real project work. This article explains what the application requires, how long the process takes, and how Experience Profiles differ between Levels 2 and 3.
What Does the Experience Profile Application Ask For?
The Experience Profile application requires you to provide a coherent, structured description of a project that demonstrates how you perform as a practitioner in your profession.
Your submission should:
- Describe a single project in enough detail for a Peer Review Board Member to understand the context
- Explain your thought processes, decisions, and professional judgement
- Provide evidence that you meet the Conformance Requirements defined in the relevant Configuration Document
The goal is to show how you work, not just what you delivered. Your narrative should clearly illustrate your role, responsibilities, and professional capability.
How Long Does It Take to Receive the Experience Profile Milestone Badge?
You should plan for approximately one month of elapsed time from submission to result.
The process typically includes:
1. Certification Authority Review (up to 10 business days)
The Certification Authority will:
- Check that your application is complete and consistent
- Provide feedback if revisions are needed
- Notify you when your application is ready to be assigned to a Board Member
2. Peer Review (2–3 weeks)
Once assigned, a Peer Review Board Member will:
- Evaluate your written Experience Profile
- Make a certification decision
- Return the result to the Certification Authority
You will receive your outcome once the review is complete.
Is a Video Meeting Required?
No.
There is no interview or live meeting involved in the Experience Profile stage.
The Peer Review Board Member makes their decision solely based on your written application.
If clarification is needed on a specific point:
- The Certification Authority may contact you to update or clarify a particular response
- This is uncommon and used only when a Board Member requires clarity on a very focused part of your submission
Can I Use the Same Project for Level 3 That I Used for Level 2?
Yes — if the project meets the Level 3 Conformance Requirements.
However, the Level 3 Experience Profile is qualitatively different from Level 2:
- Level 2 focuses on demonstrating your skills and performance as a practitioner
- Level 3 requires evidence of leadership, influence, and business impact
If your Level 2 project also demonstrates these Level 3 attributes, you may reuse it. Otherwise, you may need to select a different project that better reflects your leadership responsibilities.
