Overview
In some cases, candidates who have passed all required exams for TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner may initially see only a Foundation‑level certification. This article explains why this happens and how to get it corrected.
Why This Happens
If you take a Combined exam (Part 1 + Part 2) and:
- Fail the Part 1 section,
- Pass the Part 2 section, and
- Later take Part 1 as a standalone exam and pass,
…then the system will initially award you TOGAF EA Foundation only.
This is because the system does not automatically merge your earlier Part 2 pass with your later Part 1 pass.
How to Fix It
If this situation applies to you:
- Raise a support ticket with The Open Group Help Desk.
- The support team will manually apply your earlier Part 2 pass to your record.
- Once updated, your certification will be elevated to TOGAF EA Practitioner.
Summary
- Passing Part 2 during a Combined exam does not automatically carry over if Part 1 is failed.
- After later passing Part 1 separately, you may still appear as Foundation‑level.
- Contact The Open Group Help Desk to have your previous Part 2 pass applied and your certification updated.
