Overview
After completing the OnVUE self‑check‑in steps, candidates may occasionally experience a delay before a proctor launches the exam. This article explains what to expect and what to do if the wait becomes longer than normal.
What You Should See After Check‑In
Once you have successfully uploaded your photos and completed the system checks, you should be on a screen that says:
“You are almost done with the check‑in process.”
This means your information is being reviewed and you are waiting to be connected to a proctor.
Typical Wait Time
Most candidates are connected to a proctor and have their exam launched within 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment time.
If the Wait Is Longer Than Expected
A longer delay may indicate an issue with one or more of your uploaded photos (ID, workspace, or environment). In this situation:
- The proctor will attempt to contact you via chat or your mobile phone.
- The phone number may appear unfamiliar — please answer so they can assist you.
If You Haven’t Been Contacted After 30 Minutes
If 30 minutes have passed with no contact from Pearson VUE:
- The connection may have been lost.
- You will need to reschedule your exam through Pearson VUE customer service.
Summary
- Most exams are launched within 15 minutes.
- Delays often relate to photo verification issues.
- Proctors may contact you by chat or phone — answer even if the number is unfamiliar.
- If no contact after 30 minutes, reschedule through Pearson VUE customer service.
