Overview
If you paid for your exam by credit card through Pearson VUE and your exam has been cancelled, you may be eligible for a refund. This article explains how refunds work and what to expect.
Who Handles the Refund
All exam payments made by credit card during registration are processed directly by Pearson VUE.
Because of this, Pearson VUE is responsible for issuing any refunds when an exam appointment is cancelled.
The Open Group does not have access to your payment details and cannot process refunds on your behalf.
When Refunds Are Issued
A refund is typically issued when:
- Pearson VUE cancels your exam appointment
- Your exam cannot be delivered due to technical or scheduling issues
- You cancel your exam within the allowed cancellation window
Refunds are returned to the same credit card used for the original payment.
How Long Refunds Take
Refund processing times may vary depending on your bank or card provider, but most refunds appear within:
- 3–5 business days for major credit cards
- Up to 10 business days in some regions
Pearson VUE will send a confirmation once the refund has been processed.
How to Check the Status of Your Refund
If you have not received your refund within the expected timeframe, contact Pearson VUE Customer Support. They can:
- Confirm whether the refund has been issued
- Provide transaction details
- Assist if the refund needs to be re‑processed
Be sure to have your exam appointment ID or order number available.
Important Note
If you purchased any study materials or practice tests separately from The Open Group Shop, those items follow The Open Group Shop’s refund policy, which is separate from Pearson VUE’s exam‑fee refund process.
