To verify candidate identity and maintain the integrity of The Open Group certification program, OnVUE online proctored exams require a valid, government‑issued ID that meets Pearson VUE’s global identification standards. Candidates must present acceptable identification during the check‑in process before an exam can begin.
This article outlines the types of IDs that are accepted for OnVUE delivery.
For the latest up to date information see the Pearson web site.
Primary Accepted IDs
Candidates must present one valid, government‑issued ID that includes:
- A clear photograph
- The candidate’s full name (matching the exam registration)
- A signature (where applicable)
- A valid expiration date
The following ID types are accepted worldwide:
1. Passport (Preferred)
A valid, government‑issued passport is the most universally accepted form of identification for OnVUE exams.
2. National Identity Card
Government‑issued national ID cards that include a photo and meet local legal requirements for identity verification.
3. Driver’s Licence
A valid driver’s licence issued by a national or regional government authority.
4. State, Provincial, or Regional ID Card
Government‑issued identity cards that include a photo and meet Pearson VUE’s ID requirements.
5. Government‑Issued Residence Permit
Residence permits or immigration cards issued by a national government that include a photo and expiration date.
Requirements for All Accepted IDs
To be valid for OnVUE testing, your ID must:
- Be current (not expired)
- Be physical (not digital or electronic)
- Be undamaged and fully readable
- Match the name used in your exam registration
- Be issued by a country or region where OnVUE delivery is permitted
If your ID does not meet these requirements, you will not be allowed to test.
Important Notes
1. Only one primary ID is required
Unlike in‑person testing, OnVUE does not require a secondary ID. However, the primary ID must fully meet all requirements.
2. The ID must be from a permitted country
OnVUE delivery is not available in certain countries and regions due to regulatory restrictions. IDs issued by those locations cannot be used for online proctored exams.
3. Digital IDs are not accepted
Mobile driver’s licences, digital identity apps, or electronic ID formats cannot be used for OnVUE exams.
