Most recent certifications offered by The Open Group—such as TOGAF®, ArchiMate®, IT4IT™, DPBoK™, and Open FAIR™—do not require renewal once achieved. However, older certifications such as TOGAF 8 do have a renewal process. This article explains what needs to be renewed, how to renew TOGAF 8, and where renewed certifications are listed.
Do I Need to Renew My Certification?
Certifications That Do Not Require Renewal
Once earned, the following certifications remain valid indefinitely:
- TOGAF® 9 Certification and later
- ArchiMate® Certification
- IT4IT™ Certification
- TOGAF® Business Architecture Certification
- DPBoK™ (Digital Practitioner Body of Knowledge) Certification
- Open FAIR™ Certification
No renewal or re‑certification is required for these programs.

How Do I Renew My TOGAF 8 Certification?
TOGAF 8 Certification is the only TOGAF certification that requires renewal.

Will I Be Listed on a Public Register After Renewal?
Yes. The register of certified TOGAF 8 individuals is available here:

This allows employers and peers to verify your renewed certification status.
