Overview
If you are unable to obtain an exam voucher, it usually means that you are trying to access a voucher in a situation where vouchers are not issued, or you are not using one of the official voucher channels recognized by The Open Group.
To protect exam integrity and ensure candidates receive valid credentials, The Open Group only recognizes vouchers obtained through the official methods listed below.
For most individual candidates, you are not expected to obtain a voucher at all — you simply pay at registration.
1. You Are an Individual Candidate (No Accredited Training, No Employer Sponsorship)
Reason you cannot get a voucher:
Individual candidates do not receive vouchers and should not attempt to purchase one.
Correct process:
If you are taking an exam independently:
- Register directly with the exam provider (Pearson)
- Pay by credit card during checkout
No voucher is required or provided. This is the standard and expected method for individual exam purchases.
Receipts
When booking directly with Pearson, you will automatically receive an official payment receipt, which you may use for reimbursement or personal records.
2. You Are Not Enrolled in an Accredited Training Course
Reason you cannot get a voucher:
Vouchers issued through Accredited Training Courses are provided only to learners enrolled in those courses.
If you are not attending an accredited course, you will not receive a training‑provider voucher.
Correct process:
- If you are enrolled in an Accredited Training Course, your training provider will give you a voucher directly.
- If you are not enrolled, you must pay at registration as an individual candidate.
3. Your Employer Has Not Purchased or Assigned a Voucher
Reason you cannot get a voucher:
Employer‑funded vouchers are only available when an organization has an active Retail Voucher Account with The Open Group.
If your employer has not purchased vouchers — or has not assigned one to you — you will not see a voucher in your account.
Correct process:
- Ask your program administrator or training coordinator whether your organization has a Retail Voucher Account.
- If they do, they must assign a voucher to your profile.
- If they do not, you should register and pay directly as an individual candidate.
4. You Are Trying to Purchase a Standalone Voucher Yourself
Reason you cannot get a voucher:
Standalone voucher purchases are not available to individual candidates.
Voucher purchasing is restricted to:
- Accredited Training Providers
- Organizations with Retail Voucher Accounts
Correct process:
If you are an individual candidate, simply register and pay at checkout.
If your organization needs multiple vouchers, they may apply for a Retail Voucher Account through The Open Group Shop.
5. You Are Using an Unofficial or Unsupported Source
Reason you cannot get a voucher:
The Open Group does not recognize vouchers from third‑party resellers, unofficial websites, or unauthorized training providers.
These vouchers will not work and should not be used.
Correct process:
Only use vouchers from the three official channels:
- Paying directly at registration (individual candidates)
- Accredited Training Courses
- Employer Retail Voucher Accounts
